By popular demand, Kenana Knitters introduces a new organically cultivated cotton range – starting with the small spider lion. Soft and huggable in vibrant colours, the new range will be popular with our very smallest of customers! More animals designs to follow soon.

One of Kenya’s leading mobile phone networks, Safaricom,  has used the Kenana jungle fun leopard as part of their latest nationwide newspaper and television advertising campaign. Our lovely leopard graced a full page ad in the Daily Nation, one of Kenya’s best selling newspapers, on October the 7th this year.

The coffee chain Starbucks has chosen Kenana Knitters’ Kritters to feature in their US stores. This a major boost for our knitters and we are already getting feedback from delighted customers!

“I was the happy recipient of a hand-knitted lion from my fiancé, and couldn’t help but take a peek at the tag that was still attached.  I saw the website for Kenana Knitters listed, and the name of the artisan who made the lion (Leah).  It got me to thinking – if I were in her shoes, I wouldn’t be able to help but wonder what became of my creations after they left my hands, and what stories they could tell, if they were to ever return  Well, Leah’s lion has found a home in Burlington, Vermont, here in the United States.  My fiancé bought the lion at the local Starbucks to cheer me up after a very trying day.

I spin yarn and knit some myself, so I was rather pleased to see such good work done on the lion. Hats off, too, to Kenana Knitters for making such a difference in these women’s lives! We have a great new product – Dandy Lion. He is a shaggy haired beast with a winning smile. He is already to  proving be a great hit with some of our retailers. Check him out!

All of the Kenana products are child-friendly, sustainable handmade knitted originals.  When a knitted item is finished, an information card is attached that bears the artist’s signature, a great source of pride to the women.

The wool comes naturally in cream, browns and greys…  Part of the charm of the items is the many different shades,  the same as those of the multi-coloured flocks of local  sheep! Colours are obtained from dying the wool with traditional  plants, propagated and grown in our garden so as not to  impact adversely on the environment.x

We are introducing new beautiful designs for hats, gloves and scarves – must- have accessories this winter.
